Beckermet Reading Rooms celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2023, and with that came a huge transformation, not only in the building but in its use.

Reading Rooms were developed as part of the Victorians desire for self-improvement and promote education across the population, by giving people a place to come and read – initially newspapers were provided for those who couldn’t afford to purchase them.

Whilst the use has moved on from this initial purpose, the redevelopment reflects the roots of the building and how grounded in the Community it is.
